EVIA AERO and Fabspace Hangars are addressing one of aviation’s most pressing infrastructure challenges: the shortage of hangar capacity across Europe. Through their partnership, EVIA AERO now offers Fabspace Hangars’ modular hangar solutions, supporting airport operators through every stage of the project, from initial requirements assessment to final delivery and handover.

As demand for aircraft accommodation continues to outpace available infrastructure, airports are under increasing pressure to expand capacity. Maintenance providers, flight training organizations, business aviation operators, private aircraft owners, air rescue services and government agencies are all competing for limited hangar space. The emergence of electric and hydrogen-powered aircraft is expected to further accelerate demand, particularly at regional airports where these next-generation aircraft will require dedicated facilities for maintenance, charging and storage. Yet conventional hangar projects often take years to plan, approve and construct.

Fabspace Hangars offers a faster and more cost-effective alternative. Manufactured in Austria, the company’s modular steel-and-membrane structures accommodate aircraft ranging from helicopters to narrow-body models such as the Airbus A321 and Boeing 737 family. Designed for flexibility, the hangars can be relocated if operational requirements change and offer significant cost advantages over traditional permanent structures.

Standard single-hangar configurations provide up to 3,500 m² of covered space, while multiple-unit layouts can be combined to create scalable fleet solutions tailored to airport and operator needs. Depending on the project scope, delivery can be completed within two to nine months, with on-site installation taking just a matter of weeks.

With successful installations already operating across Austria, Germany, the United Kingdom, Sweden and Eastern Europe, Fabspace Hangars is helping airport operators rapidly expand capacity and prepare for the evolving needs of modern aviation.

EVIA AERO brings deep expertise in airport infrastructure development, with a thorough understanding of airport stakeholder requirements, business planning and investment decision-making processes. The company is already supporting the rollout of solar power, energy storage and charging infrastructure at airports across Europe, offering a fully integrated approach that combines hangar development with future-ready energy solutions. Together, these capabilities help airports prepare for the transition to electric aviation.

Florian Kruse, CEO, EVIA AERO commented: “Many regional airports could accommodate additional aircraft today if the necessary infrastructure were in place. Through our partnership with Fabspace Hangars, we can deliver that capacity in months rather than years. Airports investing now will be well positioned to support the next generation of electric aircraft.”

Franz F. Kühberger, CEO, Fabspace Hangars stated: “Airport operators need additional hangar capacity far faster than traditional construction methods can provide. Our collaboration with EVIA AERO opens up new opportunities for airports across Europe, particularly regional airports looking to establish themselves as future hubs for electric aviation.”
